5 Signs That You May Be Dehydrated

Jul 3, 2019 | Dehydration

It’s easy to forget to drink enough water to properly hydrate your body. Water is essential to our health and helping our bodies function properly, so staying hydrated should be one of our top priorities. Often, when we aren’t feeling our best it may be because we’re dehydrated. Sometimes it’s hard to tell which symptoms are dehydration, or possibly something else. Here are five signs that you might be dehydrated.

dehydration

  1. Headaches

This is probably one of the first signs most of us notice when we are dehydrated. Headaches not only interfere with our thinking and ability to focus, but in some cases they can even affect our eyes, making them feel strained.

  1. Fatigue

If you’re abnormally exhausted or fatigued and haven’t done anything major to cause that (had a long day at work, went for a long run, etc.) then you may be dehydrated. Even if you do have reason to be fatigued, if you did something physically strenuous, consider how much water you’ve had and try to get a little extra in.

  1. Flushed Skin

While feeling and looking flushed is usually the effects of a hard workout, Sometimes a sign of dehydration is flushed skin, especially in your face. So, if you’re having this symptom and you didn’t just hit the gym, it’s probably a sign you’re dehydrated.

  1. Irritability

Surprisingly enough, being dehydrated can affect our mood. Often when our health is off, our state of mind is too, even if we don’t realize it. If you notice you’re more irritable or feel anxious for no reason, you might be dehydrated.

  1. Bad Breath

Usually, when we’re dehydrated, our mouths feel dry and sometimes tacky. Dry mouth can cause bad breath. Instead of popping some gum, try drinking a glass or two of water and brushing your teeth to solve the issue, rather than mask it.

Dehydration should always be taken seriously and getting enough water in our bodies daily should be a priority.

Regardless of whether or not you are hydrated, sometimes our skin can be abnormally dry.
