PhotoFacial (FotoFacial™)

Many Scottsdale residents come to the Valley of the Sun because of our year-round sunny climate. Pleasant as all that sunshine is, it can be tough on your skin. Fortunately, The Skin Clinic in Scottsdale offers the FotoFacial™ treatment, which uses intense pulsated light (IPL) to stimulate repair of sun-damaged skin, as well as a host of other skin imperfections.

What happens during a FotoFacial™?

Treatments labeled as a “photo facial,” including FotoFacial™ treatments, are an alternative to skin repair procedures such as laser resurfacing. FotoFacial’s use of IPL makes it suitable for a range of patients, including those with delicate or sensitive skin types.

During FotoFacial™ treatment, intense pulsated light reaches layers of the skin below the surface, to be absorbed by abnormally dilated blood vessels and undesired pigmentation. This causes damage to these targeted treatment areas and promotes the body’s natural healing process.

What skin conditions can I improve with FotoFacial™ treatment?

Beyond helping heal sun-damaged skin, whether caused by intentional tanning or spending time outdoors, the treatment can dramatically improve the appearance of:

  • Age spots
  • Spider veins
  • Freckles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rosacea
  • Reddened skin
  • Irregular pigmentation
  • Wrinkles near the eyes, forehead and lips

What happens after the treatment?

After the FotoFacial™ treatment, the skin will produce collagen to replace what has been lost to aging, sun damage, and the like. This will rejuvenate your skin and give it a more even appearance, both in texture and tone. Gradually, the skin imperfections treated with FotoFacial™ fade and become far less noticeable.

Some patients report mild discomfort during the treatment, but you may resume your daily activities, including your regular skin care regimen, immediately.
