LatisseEvery woman wishes for long, thick and luxurious eyelashes, because they frame the eye and accentuate clarity and color. Along with wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin, unfortunately, thin, short and lightened eyelashes, medically known as hypotrichosis, is also a sign of aging. Until a few years ago there was not a solution outside of applying (and reapplying) mascara and using fake eyelashes. Today, an eyelash enhancement treatement called Latisse is out on the market and is available by prescription at the North Scottsdale Laser and Skin Care Clinic.
What is Latisse?
Latisse is a topical solution and contains an active ingredient, bimatoprost, which makes makes eyelash growth possible. It uses the same formula as Lumigan, which is made by Allergan and used for glaucoma to reduce eye pressure. In 2008, the FDA approved the medication once it was discovered the solution had additional benefits to eyelashes. How it works precisely is not known, but it is believed to increase the length of the lashes and increase the number of eyelash hairs during the growth phase.
What you can expect
Results from Latisse don’t happen in a blink of an eye, so this solution works gradually. In 4 short weeks, you will see a difference in length, and thickness and darkness to your lashes will appear after the full 16 week treatment. It must be applied as directed, because if you stop using it at anytime, your lashes will return to its natural state. You can continue to use mascara for a more dramatic effect. Contact wears and women who have eyelash extensions can also benefit from the treatment as long as there is no history of sensitivity to bimatoprost. All candidates may experience eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and eyelid skin darkening a side the skin close to where the product is applied.
Thick, beautiful eyelashes can make your eyes pop and make you look younger and radiant. If you are interested in trying Latisse to boost last growth and fullness, schedule an appointment with one of our trusted doctors today!
