Even if you have all the right products, your skin care routine may work more effectively when done in the correct order. Follow these simple tips to make sure that your skin care routine is done right!
Order Matters in Your Skin Care Routine
- Cleanse—Starting in the morning with a good cleanser will eliminate any oil that developed on your face over night. We recommend SkinMedica’s Facial Cleanser or Purifying Foaming Wash for a great everyday cleanser.
- Tone—Toners help remove debris like oil and traces of makeup, plus soothes, repairs, and smooths the skin’s surface. It also helps prepare your skin for additional treatments.
- Serum—You probably have multiple serums, and they should be applied after your toner. These skin care products are highly concentrated and can help with a variety of skin conditions. For example, SkinMedica’s TNS Essential Serum can treat the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and it can also improve skin’s tone and texture.
- Treatments—This part of your skin care routine is when you should apply any anti-aging creams or acne treatments. If you use a retinol, this is the right time to apply this skin treatment as well.
- Eye Cream—Eye creams are helpful for those of all ages! We typically recommend starting to apply eye cream as soon as our patients are in their 20s. The TNS Eye Repair cream can help to reduce or prevent fine lines and wrinkles by the eye, and this eye cream can also improve the appearance of dark circles.
- Moisturize—Moisturizers can help to lock in hydration in your skin. This will allow the rest of your products to work better, and your skin will look better, too!
- Sunscreen—If your moisturizer doesn’t have a sun protectant in it, applying sunscreen at the end of your skin care routine will protect your skin for the day ahead.
