Fall is a Great Time to Get a Chemical Peel!

Sep 16, 2021

After a long, scorching hot summer, your skin could use a little extra tender loving care right about now. A medical grade chemical peel could be just the little boost you need to keep the skin on your face looking its best.

Problems that a Chemical Peel Can Fix

Even if you have been careful and have used your sunscreen all summer, you might still have a few issues with your skin. A peel removes the top layers of your skin to reveal the fresh, healthy skin hiding below.

North Scottsdale Laser & Skin Care’s medical grade peels can be used to treat:

  • Sun damaged skin
  • Dull skin
  • Rough skin
  • Freckles
  • Fine lines
  • Acne

Not Your Mother’s Chemical Peel

Years ago, medical grade chemical peels were very drastic and required a lengthy downtime and often provided unpredictable results. Instead of using more caustic ingredients, today’s light to medium peels uses ingredients such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs). These ingredients disrupt the bonds between dead skin cells. The dead skin flakes away, allowing the healthy skin to be seen.

What You Can Expect with a Peel

Most chemical peels take about an hour and can even be done during your lunch hour. After your peel, you can go back to your normal activities with almost no discomfort or downtime. However, you should be careful with your skin for the first 5 to 10 days after your peel and:

  • Avoid being in the sun for a few days and moisturize daily with a SPF50 moisturizer
  • Do not use retinol or glycolic acid-based products for at least 5 days
  • Do not pick or peel flaking skin
  • Only use a gentle cleanser on your skin
  • Avoid exercising or other activities that can cause you to perspire

Give your skin the treat it deserves after a rough summer. Book your appointment for a chemical peel with North Scottsdale Laser & Skin Care Clinic today by calling (480) 448-0918.
