Wondering how long Botox injections will last? While many of us would love the results of our Botox injections to last forever, unfortunately this is not the case. Typically, Botox lasts between three to four months. In some cases, it may last three to four for some patients, while for others, it may only last up to two months. Here are a few things to know about how long Botox lasts.

Botox Effects Do Wear Off

Botox is a neurotoxin that works by blocking nerve signals to the targeted muscle, which prevents it from contracting. It usually takes three to five days for these effects to begin. But it is not uncommon for it to take up to 10 days. Gradually, the effects of Botox will begin to wear off as your body continues to make new neurotransmitters all the time. As these new neurotransmitters circulate throughout your blood stream, the affected muscles begin to contract again.

Factors That Influence Botox Effects

There are multiple factors that can influence how long the effects of Botox will last, including:

  • Your unique personal metabolism influences how long Botox will last
  • Participating in cardio exercise more than five times a week
  • Areas being treated, like between the eyebrows and forehead where Botox effects last longer
  • Stress can shorten Botox effects
