Micro-Needling is a nonsurgical treatment that promotes new collagen and elastin in your skin. It helps your skin glow with a healthy and youthful appearance. It’s the latest effective anti-aging treatment to reduce and get rid of facial impurities. This skin care treatment aids with the reduction of wrinkles, fine lines, acne, body scars, stretch marks and more. Although micro-needling is a nonsurgical procedure, your skin still needs to be cared for after treatments. Knowing how to care for your skin after micro-needling is important to make sure your skin continues to benefit from the treatment .
Use Hyaluronic Acid Creams
Your skin just went through a micro-needling treatment, which is essentially wounding your skin so it can newly repair itself. After the treatment, you’ll be instructed to wash your face with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser for the first three days. You’ll also need to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized. Apply creams that contain hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid can hold water molecules to the surface of your skin to keep it hydrated. It also helps to heal wounds from micro-needling to speed the process of recovery. Avoid wearing any creams that contain vitamin C since it’ll burn and irritate your skin causing further issues.
Wear Sunscreen!
Exposure to UV lights and sun rays causes damage to the collagen and elastin in your skin, so wearing sunscreen daily should be a best practice. 24 hours after the micro-needling treatment, you can go back to your daily activities, but still be conscious of caring for your skin. After micro-needling you should stay out of direct sunlight for at least a week. However, with our busy schedules sometimes it can be hard. Wearing an SPF with 45+ protection can help insure your skin won’t be damaged. If possible, try using a non-chemical sunscreen since the chemical ingredients may irritate your skin.
Avoid any Irritant Products
It’s best to avoid exfoliating your skin after micro-needling for at least a week since exfoliating can irritate your skin. After the 24 hours you can begin to wear makeup, but don’t overdo it. Make sure you use clean makeup applicators so that your skin isn’t prone to bacteria. When washing your face try to use only natural soaps and face washes to avoid any irritations. Your skin will be in the healing process so it’s best to be gentle and avoid anything that can cause it to irritate or reverse the micro-needling treatment.
Caring for your skin after micro-needling and in general is essential to keeping it healthy, young and beautiful.
