Do you have stubborn areas where fat just won’t budge no matter how much you diet or exercise? CoolSculpting® may be the answer you are looking for to reduce those stubborn pockets of fat. Here are a few things to consider while deciding whether this innovative treatment is right for you.
What is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is an FDA-cleared and non-invasive fat-freezing technology that can be used to target stubborn fat pockets in as little as one session for some patients. It can be used to reduce visible fat bulges in nine different body areas:
- Abdomen
- Flanks
- Under the chin
- Jawline
- Thighs
- Underneath the buttocks
- Back fat
- Bra fat
- Upper arms
The treatment contours your body by freezing your fat away. One the fat cells are treated; they are gone for good. The number of treatments required to effectively treat problem areas may vary.
Who Shouldn’t Have CoolSculpting®
CoolSculpting® treatments are not for everyone. If you have conditions like cryoglobulinemia, paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, or cold agglutinin disease, you should not have this treatment. Make sure to tell your physician about any medical conditions you may have, including known allergies or sensitivities, or any recent surgeries or pre-existing hernias.
Common Side Effects
During the CoolSculpting® procedure, you may feel sensations of intense cold, mild pinching, stinging, pulling, tingling, cramping, or aching at the treatment site. As the treated area becomes numb, these sensations will subside.
After the procedure, it is common to experience tenderness, temporary redness, bruising, swelling, itching, skin sensitivity, or other mild side effects. It is rare for more serious side effects to occur.
