What are NovaThreads? NovaThreads are made of polydioxanone (PDO) and are dissolvable threads that are placed under the skin in various areas in order to lift the cheeks, jowls, and neck bands. Although this skin care treatment can be used anywhere, it is especially effective in the neck and jaw line, especially since the lower third of your face cannot be treated by Botox.
How do NovaThreads work? Polydioxanone is one of the safest materials to implant into the body and is often used in cardiothoracic surgeries. The body typically absorbs this material within four to six months and does not create any scar tissue. This material also stimulates collagen production through a process of controlled healing. Your skin will gently react to the inserted threads and will make your skin look naturally younger.
What are the side effects? NovaThreads are injections, so there is no surgery, and the treatment itself takes no longer than an hour to complete. With no downtime, the most common side effects include bruising and swelling, which will only last one to two weeks. Results will be visible after a week, and you should notice that the threads will hold for about 15 months, making maintenance easy! You can always add more threads at another time.
