Radiesse and Restylane – Dermal Fillers

Jul 9, 2014 | Blog, Skin Care

There are various FDA approved dermal fillers, each containing a significant use in decreasing wrinkles and creases. Two injectable dermal fillers that our physicians administer at the North Scottsdale Laser and Skin Care Clinic are Radiesse and Restylane. They provide great results if you struggle with signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles and furrows. If you’re considering options to improve and enhance your appearance, let’s take a quick look at both.

Restylane

Restylane was FDA approved in 2003, and it is currently one of the most popular injectable cosmetic enhancements in the industry. Restylane is used primarily to treat superficial wrinkles, and it’s made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance, unlike older collagen treatments. Like Juvederm, which is also comprised of hyaluronic acid, Restylane naturally triggers collagen production, so the results from this treatment can be long-lasting and natural looking.

Radiesse

Radiesse is also FDA approved, and is used for fixing deeper folds and wrinkles. If you are experiencing hollow areas in your face, like the cheeks or jaw line, Radiesse is administered to the skin to augment volume. While it is made of a natural substance like Restylane, it’s actually comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a duplicate to the human bone minerals. Because of this, it is safe, and allergy tests are not needed. One of the greatest benefits of Radiesse is its durability, because these enhancements may last up to three years.
