The Plasma Pen is a tool that creates a plasma charge approximately 0.5 mm above a patient’s skin, meaning plasma never actually touches the face. Instead, the charge creates a thermal reaction on the skin in the shape of a dot. This reaction tightens the skin. Our medical professional will apply these reactions in a grid pattern to the area receiving treatment.
Thermal reactions generated by this treatment cause a superficial micro-trauma that kick-starts a healing process in the epidermal skin layer. The healing encourages skin tightening, as well as collagen production.
The Plasma Pen treatment can be used on any area of the skin. Most treatments focus on the face and neck. It can reduce or eliminate crow’s feet, smile lines, “turkey neck” lines, acne scars, age spots, and freckles. It can even improve the appearance of loose tummy skin after a pregnancy!
Medspa professionals will apply a topical anesthetic before the procedure to alleviate any potential discomfort from the Plasma Pen treatment. After the treatment, the dot grid pattern on the treated area will persist for up to a week as it heals. Skin will look tighter immediately and the full realization of results is typically visible after four weeks.
No procedure can completely stop the aging of skin, but with careful following of post-treatment instructions and a healthy lifestyle, it is possible to go several years between retreatments.
