What to Expect After Getting Lip Fillers

While there is no surgery involved with these procedures, there is very little to no downtime. However, there are a few things you should expect after your procedure.

What Happens During the First 24 Hours?

You can expect your lips to be swollen during the first 24 hours are lip fillers. You will likely have some redness or bruising at your injection sites. This is entirely normal. Applying ice as recommended will help reduce any swelling, bruising, itching, or pain. Participating in strenuous exercise can make the swelling or bruising worse.

Two Days After Your Lip Fillers

After 24 hours, your lips may still be swollen and bruised. You may lightly apply lipstick to your lips. If your doctor agrees, you may be able to engage in light exercise, like walking, because strenuous exercise should still be avoided. It is okay to start gently massaging your lips within 48 hours of your injections to work out any bumpy areas that may have developed.

One Week Post-Filler Procedure

By the end of the first week, the swelling and bruising in your lips should be reduced. Your lip fillers will begin to work and as your lips become plumper and fuller.

Two Weeks Post-Procedure
