Why You Should Choose an Experienced Doctor for Cosmetic Injections

If you’re looking into dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, and injectables like Botox, it’s important to find a medical spa with experienced doctors.

Unlike many other beauty procedures, products involving injections require an experienced doctor to do the injections properly. If your spa doesn’t know what they’re doing, you could get subpar results, or even experience negative side-effects. It’s important to always do your research before you chose to enhance your face and body.

Experience Matters For Injectables!

  1. Injectible Fillers

Dermal fillers, often called “wrinkle fillers,” offer much more than just wrinkle reduction—though they excel at that too! Here are some common concerns dermal fillers can address:

  • Smooth lines around the nose and mouth (such as smile lines, marionette lines, and parentheses)
  • Add fullness and definition to the lips
  • Restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples
  • Reduce vertical lip lines
  • Smooth out creases
  • Enhance facial symmetry

Injectable fillers, like Juvederm and Sculptra, are designed to replace lost volume in the face such as collagen. When we’re young, our faces have plenty of collagen, which is one of the main building blocks of the skin. However, when collagen breaks down in the skin, the most noticeable effects are wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging as the skin loses its elasticity and firmness. Without the structural support of collagen fibers, your face begins to show visible signs of aging.

While different filler products vary in their formulas, they all share the same goal: to restore firmness and add volume to the skin.

Most fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body. It helps restore volume, smooth out wrinkles and scars, and attract moisture to prolong results. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are versatile and can be used in many areas, including the lips.

Other fillers are made from collagen or synthetic biocompatible materials, which are especially effective for deeper creases. The best filler for you will depend on your goals, facial structure, and other factors.

However, fillers can go wrong if delivered by an inexperienced clinician.

For one thing, it takes an experienced eye to know exactly where the filler should be delivered. They aren’t always injected directly underneath a wrinkle. Sometimes the skin around the wrinkle needs to be plumped to make it go away. If the filler is delivered to the wrong spot, it won’t do its job, and it will be a waste of money.

Mastering the use of injectable fillers is truly an art. It requires a deep understanding of facial anatomy, enabling the doctor to skillfully enhance the patient’s features and deliver the most natural, beautiful results.

  1. Botox

Injectables such as Botox and Dysport are equally challenging. Botox is a chemical injection derived from the botulinum toxin. When used in small doses, botulinum is non-harmful. Injected beneath the skin, it relaxes the muscles of the face – and in turn, this reduces the appearance of wrinkles, crows’ feet, and other signs of aging.

However, too much Botox could do actual damage to the face. Your med spa must be fully qualified to work with Botox to ensure they’ll use it properly.

Plus, there’s the artistic side of the process. Much as with fillers, the doctor delivering your Botox must fully understand the facial structure and how your skin will react to the injection. Experience creates great results, and smooth youthful faces!

In addition, there are medical concerns involving injectables like Botox and Dysport. For example, they interact badly with blood thinners, leading to bleeding and bruising at the injection site. Experienced, medically-licensed professionals understand the medical science behind these injections, and will consult with you to ensure your safety when they’re used.

III. What to Look For in a Medical Spa

How do you know you’ve found a great med spa for your fillers and injectables like Botox?

1 – Licensing

A proper med spa with injectable procedures must have at least one licensed doctor on staff to deliver the injections. These are FDA-certified controlled medications that can only be legally sold and delivered by a licensed professional.

2 – Authentic products

Sad to say, but there are bootlegs of Botox and other popular injectables – and they are inherently unsafe. You should verify that your beauty clinic is only using official products directly from the manufacturer. That’s the only way to be certain you’re getting the real thing, and not some dodgy knockoff.

3 – Experience

Even with proper training and licensing, learning to use injectable products is an ongoing process. The more experience your spa’s doctors have, the better. Ask about their doctors’ history, and how long they’ve been working with injectable beauty products. Look for several years of experience, at least, to know you’ve found a genuine expert.

When choosing a provider for injectable treatments, approach the decision with the same care as you would for a surgical procedure. Non-surgical, filler treatments are still medical procedures that require specialized training, expertise, and precision for safe and natural-looking results. Select a provider who has in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy, a keen aesthetic eye, and the skill of a surgeon.
