Why Do I Keep Having Acne Break Outs in the Same Spot?

Jul 8, 2019 | Acne, Skin Care

We all know that spots and acne are annoying and make us feel self-conscious. A breakout can be really frustrating when they appear just before a big party or important event!

Have you ever had the same acne spot reappear over and over again? You might think that you’ve gotten rid of the breakout, only to find it reappear in exactly the same place on your face a few weeks or months later. And this process could keep on repeating itself – the spot might go but before you know it, it will pop up again. Talk about frustrating!

There could be a few reasons behind your reoccurring acne breakouts.

Your Dirty Habits

There are a lot of habits that many of us have that are actually a lot dirtier than we think. For instance, when was the last time you disinfected your phone? Do you keep on touching your face when you are stressed or worried? Ideally, you need to keep germs and bacteria away from your face, and changing these habits will help with that. Additionally, you should try deep-cleaning your face every day with these acne products.

You Didn’t Pop the Whitehead the Right Way

Even though it isn’t advised to do so, you may be tempted to pop a whitehead to remove the blockage and infection that is inside. If you do this, make sure you squeeze with clean hands. Sometimes when you squeeze and pop your acne, it might not remove all of the infection. That makes it likely that the spot will reappear again or, in some cases, it could cause a similar pimple right next to the old one. Generally speaking, the best way to treat a whitehead is to leave it alone. If you don’t squeeze them, then they won’t reappear!

It Could Be Your Menstrual Cycle

You may have heard some women complain that having their period often causes a lot of breakouts and acne. This isn’t just an old wives’ tale – period pimples are real! It’s all because of the hormonal changes that are occurring in your body. Menstrual acne tends to occur in the same areas, along the jaw, chin, and lower cheeks.

It Could Be a Cyst

Are you sure that it’s actually a pimple that keeps on returning? It might be a cyst. This is likely to be the case if the pimple swells but never seems to create a “head” on the skin. If you have a number of cysts together, then they might eventually cause some form of scaring on your skin. In this case, it’s worth seeing your doctor as they will be able to prescribe you creams and, in some cases, antibiotics.

As you can see, there could be a perfectly good reason why the acne spot keeps appearing!
